The newly launched iphone app of hiogi with the name “search genius” includes a reverse image search function, which enables iphone users to send in their pictures with a location and additional information. The hiogi community will immediately start researching based on the image and information provided in the question. This way you can easily take a picture of the tv screen showing a new actress in a soap opera and the hiogi community will answer with the name and bio. Or while on a site seeing trip you could take a picture of an old building, send your location and you will get the name of the architect plus when it was build. The app reached no 2 in the paid-app category “references” in Germany already on day one.

The app was build on web technologies using the development framework phonegap, plus jqtouch and the APNS of Apple to send push notifications. It is also available as a whitelabel solution for customer care initiatives via www.service-community.net

and we will continously improve the app by launchen new versions. Currently the sliding features show slidely slower performances than native apps programmed in objectiv C, however Javascript, html and css with phonegap allows us to create efficient builds for Android and Blackberry aswell.
